11 home break-ins reported

Yellowknife (June 15/05) - Yellowknife RCMP responded to 484 complaints between May 31 and June 13.

There were four complaints of businesses being broken into. Among the items missing are a stereo, a laptop computer, cash and other items. No charges have been laid in respect to these break and enters at this time.

Police responded to 11 calls of residential break and enter. Four of the complaints received were determined to be unfounded. Two others were attempted break-ins. In the five completed break and enters, an XBOX, Nintendo Gamecube and money, among other items, were reported missing.

Nine illegal drug complaints were received during the two-week period. Of those, three involved cannabis marijuana and six involved cocaine. Two charges have been laid under section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.

Police received 56 assault complaints. Of those, 47 were common assaults, two were assaults with a weapon, and seven were sexual assaults.

There were 68 damage to property complaints received.

Another 83 complaints dealt with people causing a disturbance.

Eight motor vehicle accidents were reported. In three of them, passengers received non-fatal injuries. Two of the accidents resulted in damages less than $1,000 and three resulted in damages of more than $1,000.

Four motor vehicle thefts were reported. Two of the vehicles were recovered undamaged, but the other two remain missing.

Police issued seven traffic tickets during this time.
